Abstract
Although the first known professional wrestling match held in Tyler, Texas, occurred in 1913, it wasn't until 1927 that the sport became a local weekly event. This presentation draws primarily from the Tyler newspapers, describing the wrestling business, where events were held, prominent promoters and wrestlers, and even what ladies wore when they attended. It concludes with accounts of several particularly "colorful" accounts of matches as presented in the Tyler paper.
