Abstract

Food waste is a current issue in the world that not only has a negative effect on a country's resources but also on the world's climate. The purpose of this study was to find out why students and consumers in general waste their food at The University of Texas at Tyler's MET cafeteria. A sample of 48 customers were interviewed individually about the reasons that they discarded food. With such findings, recommendations and suggestions will be given to the cafeteria's management in order to reduce expenses and to make efforts to protect the environment.
